About Us
Folding wishes for happiness and peace into our origami roses
The purpose of this origami project is to support the people who are suffering from recent disastrous earthquakes around the world. We gather donations by simply sharing our origami and hosting origami events. This year, we will send money that we gather to the people who were badly affected by the Noto earthquake held on 1st January 2024. We are planning to do so by the end of this year.

Naoko's thoughts
I had a huge sadness when I heard about the news about the Noto earthquake on 1st January this year. This natural disaster took about 200 lives, and 7,800 homes was destroyed completely. Again, people in Japan are having a challenging year with earthquakes.

I know there are growing concerns about more and more earthquakes striking Japan over the next few decades and some of them will be very devastating and many people will lose their lives. I am very worried about my family and friends back home. At the same time, I feel a slight sense of guilt as I am 8,000 miles away from home and do not help people who are badly affected by earthquakes.

I talked about the frequency of earthquakes and the resulting difficult livelihoods to my 6-year-old daughter at that time, Mina, and discussed with her how we could support people afflicted by national disasters. After that, we decided that we would fold 1,000 origami roses to wish all the people, including the people suffering from recent earthquake disasters, happiness and peace. I would like to share our origami crafts with the rest of the world and tell them about the situation in Japan in order to gather donations and send it to those in need.
